In 2016, Magic Web Design celebrated 20 years in activity as 360º Marketing Communications and Digital Marketing agency.

Two decades in activity in a market in continual evolution, during this time Magic achieved excellence in delivery to its clients and established offices in Curitiba and São Paulo.

The beginning of a trajectory

Magic Web Design appeared in 1996, with the intention of addressing a new demand for "pages" in a market where the expression "web design" was still largely unknown.

Websites featured basic functionalities, few images and no animation. There were no multiple browsers and much less any mobile devices!

The first client Magic never forgets

BC Consultores Associados – The very first website ever developed by Magic, in the full glory of HyperText Markup Language (aka "HTML").

Producer: in the age of Flash

Magic took advantage, like few other agencies were able to, of the resources of ActionScript, language used within the Flash plug-in, and started to act as a digital production agency.

In a time of extremely interactive websites, our projects stood out by linking Flash to 3D and graphic computation. The outcome: countless awards and prizes.

Stand out: dragster pilot Alejandro Sanchez’s website, elected "Site of the Year" in 2007 and again in 2011.

Rede Magic: the São Paulo office

Around 2006, in São Paulo, Magic already had a growing number of important clients in developing e-learning in Flash for companies like Goodyear.

At this time, Rede Magic arrives, and our São Paulo office begins to specialize in addressing key account customers, moving into intranet development and Promotional Hot Sites.

Agency: the growth of Social Media

Market changes increasingly place social media in evidence, and Brazil was one of the countries to ride this wave.

Gradually, little by little, Magic also underwent transformation, going from a producer to digital agency and conceiving strategies to build Social Media presence through content targeted at achieving relevance in Google (SEO).

Bringing everything together: 360º Marketing Communications

As the importance of digital communication grew, people referred less and less to the "on" and "off" line worlds – communication was becoming truly integrated, with the digital world often being the mainstream.

Magic, with its online DNA, perceived the opportunity of offering total communication to its customers and began integrating all the necessary lines for a good marketing strategy, from branding to advertising.

And so, we moved forward together, completing two decades of activity and a high level of evolution in one of our economy’s most competitive segments.

When Netscape was king

In 1995, the internet arrived in Brazil. Most of the access was done through dial-up modems, using the old BBS that, with time, became the first access providers.

At the time, Netscape Navigator was a revolutionary browser, with over 90% market share. Pages were basically comprised of hypertext.

A decade of animations

Between 2000 and 2010, the language initially known as Macromedia Flash revolutionized browsing on the internet and forced a continual increase in band consumption, which was never enough to browse on the extremely heavy portals of that time, fraught with graphic resources.

In 2005, at the height of the multimedia language, YouTube comes along offering videos through Flash Player.

From Design to content

The first iPhone appeared in 2007, kicking off an unprecedented movement that would slowly kill off Flash.

Opened to the public in the previous year, Facebook would also reach the 100,000 fan commercial pages milestone in 2007.

It was a process that changed the way web projects are developed and placed content as basic factor in drawing attention.

The mobile revolution

It was only in 2014 that companies began to be concerned with having responsive websites, compatible with smartphones and mobile devices.

Google changed the game in 2015, when it implemented the algorithm that prioritizes mobile-friendly sites – this became known as "mobilegeddon".

Finally, in 2016, internet access from mobile devices exceeded 50% in Brazil.

We still do not know what the next transformation wave in digital communication will be, but we are ready!
